Madonna and Jackson Shine Again
Madonna returned to the top of the Billboard 200 after releasing “Confessions II,” also titled “Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II,” on July 3, 2026. The album serves as a follow-up to her acclaimed 2005 release “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” which featured popular tracks including “Hung Up,” “Sorry,” “Get Together,” and “Jump.”

A Rare Chart Reunion After 25 Years
According to Billboard, this is the first time since December 1, 2001, that Madonna and Michael Jackson have appeared together in the Billboard 200 Top 10.
The chart from 2001 looked very different. Michael Jackson’s studio album “Invincible” ranked at No. 4, while Madonna’s compilation “GHV2: Greatest Hits Volume 2” landed at No. 7. Interestingly, the current chart presents the opposite scenario. Madonna reaches the Top 10 with brand-new material, while Michael Jackson returns through renewed interest in his classic recordings.
Billboard also pointed to another moment when the pair nearly shared the Top 10. In September 1987, the soundtrack album “Who’s That Girl,” featuring several Madonna songs, dropped to No. 11 during the same week Michael Jackson’s “Bad” debuted at No. 1.
Although they narrowly missed appearing together in the Top 10 that week, it remains another memorable chapter in their chart history.
